Request an upgrade for an enterprise application (e.g., Banner, DegreeWorks, etc.)

Information

Software vendors routinely release patches and upgrades to their products. These releases may include new functionality and/or fix existing defects. Requests for upgrades and patches will initiate a project which must be coordinated by all affected stakeholders. Please allow at least 3 weeks to ensure adequate testing time for all stakeholders. The project generally follows this pattern:

  1. Install in development instance
  2. Test development instance
    1. Technical and functional testing of all new features and bug fixes, as well as core processes that will be mission-critical during production launch
    2. This is usually a 2-4 week window depending size of the upgrade
  3. Install in preproduction instance
  4. Test in preproduction instance
    1. Technical and functional testing to ensure that any issues discovered in development testing have been fully resolved
    2. This is usually a 1-week window depending on the size of the upgrade and the number of issues found in development testing
  5. Install in production
  6. Test in production
    1. Technical and functional testing to ensure that all mission-critical functions are operating normally
    2. This must be done on the same day as installation as early as possible
