Introduction
Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility at Massasoit Community College. Keeping all of our accounts and data secure is one of ITS's top priorities. To support this, we use KnowBe4—an online platform that provides security awareness training, phishing simulations, and practical tips to help you stay safe online. This article introduces KnowBe4, how it fits into our campus-wide cybersecurity efforts, and what you'll need to know as a Massasoit employee.
What is KnowBe4?
KnowBe4 is a security awareness platform designed to help you recognize and respond to cyber threats. It includes:
-
Online training modules to teach best practices
-
Simulated phishing emails to test your response
-
Regular updates on emerging threats and trends
Why is KnowBe4 Important?
Cyber attacks often target individuals, not just systems. KnowBe4 helps you:
-
Learn how to spot phishing attempts
-
Understand safe browsing and password policies
-
Build habits that reduce risk across campus
Who needs to use it?
All faculty, staff, and student employees are enrolled in KnowBe4. Security Awareness Training is required as part of onboarding and periodically as part of our security policy.
How do I access security awareness training?
To access Massasoit's training modules and other resources for cybersecurity, log into the MyMassasoit Portal and click on Security Awareness Training in the Launchpad card:

You can also log into KnowBe4 with your Massasoit email address at this link: https://training.knowbe4.com/ui/login
Once you log in, you'll see required training modules listed on your Dashboard and can click through the pages to see any other training or resources that are available to you. Certificates for previously completed trainings are available to view and download in the Training page.

What if I receive a suspicious email?
If you suspect a phishing attempt:
-
Use Outlook to report the email (instructions).
-
Even if you're not sure about an email, reporting it as phishing is a good idea. If it turns out to be legitimate, ITS will notify you and move the email back into your inbox so you don't lose anything important.
-
Do not click any links, download any attachments, or provide any account information.
-
Avoid forwarding suspicious emails to anyone else; this may expose others to false information and malicious links.
Additional tips for staying safe
-
Use strong, unique passwords for each login.
-
Be cautious with unexpected emails, links, or requests (even phone calls and in-person).
-
Don't share your credentials with anyone - ITS will never ask for your password.
-
Keep your devices and software up to date.
