Teams: OneDrive feature in MS Teams

Issue/Question

  • What is the purpose of the OneDrive function in MS Teams?

Resolution

The following is an explanation of the OneDrive function in Teams.

What is the purpose of the OneDrive space?

OneDrive space is provided to each Massasoit staff member with an Outlook Email account and can be accessed through MyMassasoit. Also, each Team also gets its own OneDrive space for use by all members in that Team.

Can I see both the Team's and my own file in the different OneDrive space?

Yes, while there is a separate OneDrive space for own individual account and your Teams you can see both spaces on the same screen in Teams, if needed.

If you are not familiar with OneDrive, it (like Google Drive) is a protected area for you, or in this case your team, to store, share and edit documents. It is part of Office 365.

How do I see my Team OneDrive space?

  • To see your OneDrive space, go to one of your Teams channels, click on .

You will see a list of the files within your Team space, either for the entire Team or for each channel. For example, if your Team has two channels, called “Harry” and “Sally”, you can either see all the files stored for “Harry” or just for “Sally”, or choose to see all the files for your Team.

You will see the OneDrive space when you click on Files.

The point is, all your follow team members can see the files, download the files to work on, upload to the files to share the latest versions or delete them from the space. The rules for OneDrive are the same as your individual OneDrive space with the built-in collaborative features.
