- How do I use the Chat function in Teams?
Resolution
The chat is designed to be easy for you to use as a Team member. You can chat to your entire Team, chat privately (one-on-one), add more people to the discussion, make a phone or video call, share a screen with the people you are chatting with, and format (or dress up) your text during your exchange.
How to get to Chat
- Click to start a chat with other members of your team or outside contacts.
You will see the Chat screen. Your most recent chats will appear on the left. The chat currently selected on the list will appear on the right.
Chat with your entire Team
Go to the list, pick one of your Teams, pick a channel and you can communicate with that entire Team,
- Click Posts.
- Enter your text
- Press .
- After a Team members responds, you can click on the Reply link and chat back and forth.

Chat one-on-one
- To communicate one-on-one, select the Team member you wish to communicate with by:
- clicking on their name on the Recent screen or
- clicking on your contact list and selecting their card or
- click and entering the persons name.

You can format you text using the formatting options:

Switch to video conference
Stream (if available)
